According to the initiative, the problem has existed for about a week and the situation is still getting worse. The reasons for the depressurization are still unknown.

On the morning of December 8, metro workers saw new cracks in the tunnel, which is a threat to the safety of passenger transportation. Therefore, it was decided to stop traffic along this section at 13:45. At the same time, the metro is doing work to eliminate the consequences.

City Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko at the scene of the incident in the metro tunnel on Kiev 24 said that more detailed information about the situation will be provided later.

— Considering that the situation has escalated, we conducted additional examinations and, based on safety principles, decided to stop the metro in this section, — Klitschko said.

He added that previously, the construction conditions could have been violated. However, the reasons will be finally announced after analysis and conclusions.

Why did water flow on the tracks in the Kyiv metro. Guess:

  • the general contractor performed his work poorly, in particular on waterproofing and chemical fastening of the tunnel;
  • The tunnel is located in the floodplain of the Lybid River. The reason could be the inflow and soils in the tunnel area;
  • geological conditions, in particular due to sands, quicksand and peat bogs.

Starting December 11, a well will be drilled in the metro for geological research to find out the cause of the situation. The first report is expected in two weeks.

On Friday, December 8, the Kyiv City State Administration announced that the movement of trains on the blue line of the Kyiv metro on the section between the stations Teremki — Demeevskaya. Duplicate ground transport routes will operate on this section.

According to the Kyiv City State Administration, transport will run along the routes:

  • temporary bus route No. 2-M Cybernetic Center — Art. m. Teremki” — Art. m. Lybidskaya. It will operate 60 buses with a 1-minute interval;
  • temporary trolleybus route No. 43-K Cybernetic Center — Art. m. Lybidskaya. Lybedskaya. 20 trolleybuses will operate at intervals of 3 minutes;
  • bus route No. 38 is extended to the station. m. Lybidskaya. Lybedskaya. There will be 5 buses at intervals of 17 minutes;
  • traffic of trolleybus No. 50 st. Miloslavskaya — Art. m. Lybidskaya is temporarily closed;
  • on trolleybus route No. 50k st. Miloslavskaya — pl. Darnitskaya will operate 10 trolleybuses at intervals of 9 minutes.

The decision was made for safety reasons and taking into account the technical condition of the tunnels. Now trains run between the stations of Heroiv Dnepr — Lybedskaya.

A little earlier, on December 8, it was reported that traffic between Demeevskaya and Teremki stations would be restricted for six months from December 9.
