The threat from the north is already smaller: why did the Russians take aviation and equipment from Belarus

Svitan about the threat from Belarus/Collage 24 Channel

The occupiers began to withdraw personnel and equipment from the territory of Belarus. The threat of an offensive from this side has dropped significantly.

A military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, instructor pilot Roman Svitan told24 Channelabout this, noting that for a long time the threat of an attack from Belarus was quite unlikely.

Why are the occupiers leaving Belarus

As Svitan emphasized, the threat of an offensive from Belarus decreased significantly when it was possible to expel the invaders from the North of Ukraine. The Russians experienced a shortage of personnel and concentrated them at the front itself.

Since then, they have brought certain reserves to Belarus for training at training grounds. However, mostly there were no more than 10 thousand personnel.

Now even this is not there. Russia blames everything more or less prepared for combat missions. They understand that in some positions the front is sagging. But in general, at the moment they did not have the quantitative strength that could attack from the North,” said Svitan.

Currently the invaders, for example, have deployed about 100-120 thousand personnel in the Liman-Kupyansk direction. But even with so many invaders, they cannot move forward. Therefore, 10 thousand Russians in Belarus at that time did not pose a particular threat.

The situation in Belarus: briefly

  • Speaker of the State Tax Service Andrei Demchenko reported that the occupiers, as part of a rotation, withdrew almost all of their units from Belarus. The invaders use this territory as a training ground for their own units. There were periodically about 10 – 11 thousand Russian military personnel there.
  • The same information was provided by “Belarusian Gayun”. They noted that Russian aviation was also withdrawn from the territory of Belarus.
  • Recently, Belarus accused Poland of violating airspace. They claimed that the Polish Mi-24 flew into Belarus. Warsaw denied this information.
