The events in the Kursk region continue to attract the attention of the world community. This time, France and Germany have spoken out about the fighting in the Russian region.

The French Ministry of Defense claims that the “breakthrough” of the border in the Kursk region “has a certain partial success.” And the German Bundestag wished good luck to those who are carrying out the operation in the Russian region.

What France said about the events in the Kursk region

The French Ministry of Defense claims that the operation in the Kursk region is allegedly being carried out by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, although the General Staff and official Kyiv have not made any statements on this matter.

The offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region, due to the surprise effect and confrontation with less prepared forces than on the eastern front, seems to have had some initial success, the French ministry wrote.

They also noted that this attack could force the Russian army to bring in forces from other parts of the front and thus ease local pressure in those areas where Ukraine has been experiencing difficulties so far.

The French Defense Ministry notes that both sides are striking deep into each other in the Kursk region. And Ukrainian forces continue to strike at airfields and energy infrastructure of Russia.

How Germany commented on the events in Russia

The head of the German parliament's defense committee, Markus Faber, a representative of the Free Democratic Party of Germany, wrote on the social network X that he considers the alleged offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region of Russia to be legitimate and such that it can incline the Kremlin to end the war against Ukraine.

When one state attacks a neighboring one, its territory also turns into a combat zone. Therefore, Ukraine's attack on Kursk is completely legitimate and has military meaning. It forces Russia to withdraw its troops from the east, he noted.

The German MP stressed that this operation shows the Russian population that “their dictator's war of conquest affects them too, not just the Ukrainians.” Therefore, it should be in their interests to end this war.

“We can only wish the Ukrainian defenders success, in particular near Kursk. The more successful they are, the sooner the Kremlin will understand that it has no chance in Ukraine. This and only this can lead to a rethink on the part of the aggressor,” Faber wrote.

He also noted that he does not consider the probable use of German weapons in the fighting in the Kursk region of Russia a problem.
