The Donetsk OVA told about the night shelling of the region/Collage of Channel 24
The situation in the Donetsk region is still very hot. The invaders are actively shelling settlements along the entire line of confrontation.
On the night of May 4-5, the Russian military launched a strong missile attack on Kramatorsk. Tatyana Ignatchenko, a representative of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, told Channel 24 about this.
“There were super-powerful strikes“, she stressed.
Consequences of heavy shelling
As a result of the shelling, unfortunately, there were casualties among the civilians – 25 people were injured, of which 6 were seriously injured. They are in the hospital.
In addition, the invaders damaged many infrastructure facilities.
Such a number of wounded and no deaths were due to the fact that the city was almost completely evacuated,” Ignatchenko noted.
She explained that, according to preliminary estimates, no more than 10% of the population that usually lives there lives in damaged high-rise buildings.
“This is an extremely powerful signal to people – evacuate, save your life. Among the victims was a woman who at one time left the Donetsk region and then returned,” the speaker noted.
What else is known about the night shelling
According to Mayor Alexander Goncharenko, the Russian Army damaged a school, a kindergarten and five-story buildings. The head of the Donetsk OVA, Pavel Kirilenko, said rockets damaged 9 residential buildings.
According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Russian invaders damaged the production facilities of Energomashspetsstal PJSC.
In addition, the enemy cynically shelled Svyatogorsk in the Kramatorsk district. The Russian military ended up in a monastery where refugees were hiding.
The situation with the evacuation
Ignatchenko said that everyone who wants to be evacuated is being helped. Cities throughout the Donetsk region are virtually empty. However, the population in small villages in the frontline zone does not want to go.
The police are forced to come to everyone in the yard and explain that they need to leave,” she noted.
Only by rail as of May 5, more than 242 thousand people were taken out of the region. The evacuation train is still running.
By the way! Before the full-scale war, 15,000 people lived in Ugledar, now there are about a thousand, others have left. However, in the Limansky territorial community the situation is worse. Despite constant shelling, about half of the population remains in Liman itself.
