At least seven Russian military aircraft were destroyed after the explosions in Crimea. New satellite images testify to this.
The biggest loss of Russian aviation since the Second World War
Destroyed military the planes at the airfield in Saki appear to be Su-24 bombers and Su-30 multi-role fighters.
According to CNN research, this may be the largest loss of Moscow’s military aviation in one day since World War II. the report says.
Two more military aircraft appear to have been damaged. Interestingly, satellite images indicate a deliberate attack, not an accident. All because of the presence of three large craters.
In Russia, it was reported that the explosions also caused damage to a neighboring city. Some buildings have broken windows, blacked-out high-rise buildings, damaged shops and a cultural center.
CNN has checked some of the available data on military aviation losses during the Soviet era. In modern Russia, there is no evidence of such significant losses from one incident in one day, the study reports.
