A 29-year-old guy served under a contract in an anti-aircraft missile regiment. He died during rocket attacks, defending Kyiv.
History of the Hero Andrey Nikonchuk
On February 24, the guy was on combat duty in the Vyshgorod region, covering with brothers, an important strategic object – the Kiev hydroelectric power station.
When enemy aircraft approached the positions of anti-aircraft gunners, they went into battle – the Ukrainian positions were not hit.
However, soon the enemies decided to fire missiles at them, one of which exploded at the position of anti-aircraft gunners. As a result of the attack, the soldier Nikonchuk died.
Let's complete with victory what he fought for! Heroes don't die! We will avenge everyone! – they wrote in the Ministry of Defense.
The department also emphasized that the soldier bravely and confidently did combat work to identify enemy air targets to the last.
So, March 2, 2022 for personal courage the defender was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
