The State Bureau of Investigation has reported suspicion to the former acting head of one of the Defense Ministry departments responsible for purchasing and sourcing. According to the investigation, in the summer of 2023, he committed official negligence, which caused damage to the state in the amount of more than 340 million hryvnia.

We are talking about the purchase of fuel and lubricants for the needs of the army in the amount of 2 billion UAH. In 19 concluded contracts, VAT was illegally taken into account, which led to overspending.

The official is charged under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – negligent attitude towards military service. The article provides for a penalty of up to eight years in prison.
The prosecution is already preparing a motion to the court for a preventive measure in the form of night house arrest. At the same time, the suspect has already compensated almost UAH 330 million in damages.

Let us recall that the commander of one of the military units of the State Border Service was found guilty of purchasing low-quality helmets for UAH 36 million.
The investigation established that when concluding and executing the contract for the supply of ballistic helmets, the commander demonstrated official negligence, as a result of which the military unit received protective equipment of inadequate quality.
