An explosion was heard on the territory of a former factory in the Darnitsky district of the capital. As a result of the incident, 4 people died.

However, employees of the State Emergency Service managed to rescue 5 people from the ruins. They manually sorted out the rubble.

“Ukraine, in a state of full-scale war, sent its forces to help the victims in Turkey. We sent our experienced specialists there, but this did not weaken our Service. Today's emergency is proof of this – 5 people were rescued from the rubble of a destroyed building where an explosion occurred. Rescuers, dog handlers, and our heavy equipment are working on the spot,” said Sergey Kruk, head of the State Emergency Service.

What is known about the explosion

The cause of the explosion on Boryspilskaya Street, Darnitsa District, is still unknown . The incident took place on a one-story train. The building was on fire. Rescuers searched for people under the ruins for several hours. In addition to them, psychologists and dog training provided assistance.

The State Emergency Service said that 124 people from the personnel and 21 pieces of equipment of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kyiv worked at the explosion site. In addition, the Mobile Rescue Rapid Response Center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine was operating.

“Four dead (all men) and five injured (2 women and three men) as a result of an explosion on the territory of a former factory in Darnitsky area. Rescuers continue to work on the spot,” Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at 19:43.
