On November 2, a bill on financing assistance to Ukraine will be submitted to the US House of Representatives for consideration. This package will be combined with money to protect the United States border with Mexico.

Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America Mike Johnson stated this during a press conference. In particular, he expressed hope that it will be adopted by a bipartisan majority, Channel 24 reports.

Johnson stressed that he believes it is right to combine funding for aid and protection of the border with Mexico. So, after all, both the Democratic and Republican parties of the United States can accept them together.

The speaker noted that the United States has responsibilities that it can and should do around the world. However, the country must first take care of “our own home.”

And while our borders are wide open, we open ourselves up to a great threat. If we want to help with the borders in Ukraine, we must take care of the American border, he added.

In addition, Johnson also noted that a vote on Johnson's proposal for $14.3 billion in aid to Israel will take place on November 2. The package for Ukraine and the protection of Ukraine will be voted on later.

Previously, Biden wanted to combine aid to Ukraine and Israel.

  • US President Joe Biden has proposed a comprehensive relief package worth approximately $106 billion. The proposal is aimed at expanding support for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and many other countries. However, the decision has met resistance from members of Congress who want individual votes on each relief package.
  • Subsequently, Mike Garcia, a Republican representative from California, put forward a number of requests to the Biden administration to approve the Ukraine aid package. In particular, he demanded to provide “a strategy for Ukraine’s actual victory” in the war.
  • Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexey Danilov responded to this statement by Garcia. He noted the positive significance of the fact that in the statements of American politicians the word “victory” sounds next to Ukraine.
