Geolocation footage from September 30 shows Ukrainian troops hitting Russian troops trying to occupy a trench system approximately 1 km southwest of Rabotino — in the area of the road T0408 Rabotino — Tokmak. And on September 13, the Ukrainian Armed Forces occupied sections of this trench, but it seems they lost it as a result of Russian counterattacks.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces note that this trench, controlled by Russian troops, is a stronghold in the system of trenches, fire systems and dugouts located between Rabotin and Novoprokopovka.
The trenches are connected by underground structures similar to tunnels. Occupying forces are prioritizing the defense of these positions.
Geolocation footage from October 1 suggests Ukrainian Armed Forces are in control of the easternmost trench and are attempting to advance west to capture the remaining two trenches and their associated dugouts and firing positions , ISW says.
There are also reports that Russian troops are conducting successful limited tactical counterattacks south of Rabotino, but the information requires confirmation. Overall, the tactical situation in this area is complex and dynamic.
