According to her, Ukrainian farmers, bringing damaged combines and tractors to the border, are trying to demonstrate to their Polish colleagues blocking the border what price Ukraine pays for harvesting grain.

According to the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, today, February 23, at about 09:00 at the Dorogusk railway checkpoint, unknown persons damaged rapeseed in three grain carriers.

This cargo was in transit through Poland to Hamburg, Germany.

– I’ll just say that unpunished crimes always come back. Even if it is military aggression, or even damaged grain.

Criminals must be found and punished immediately so that others are not tempted to repeat them, noted the Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Alexander Kubrakov.

Ukrzaliznytsia is currently preparing an appeal to the Polish law enforcement agencies regarding the incident at the Dorogusk railway checkpoint.

Scandal with spilled Ukrainian grain on the border with Poland

Recall that the scandal with spilled Ukrainian grain on the border with Poland flared up on February 11.

Then Polish farmers poured Ukrainian grain, imported on trucks through the Dorogusk checkpoint, onto the road.

After a scandal erupted with Ukrainian grain being spilled at the border, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasily Zvarych reported that this grain was being transported in transit to Lithuania.

The trucks themselves, before being damaged, were sealed after the appropriate customs procedures.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba called the damage to Ukrainian grain on the Polish border unacceptable.

The Foreign Minister stressed that any farmer should know how much hard work is needed to produce grain, especially in wartime.

Therefore, Dmitry Kuleba added, for the sake of friendly Ukrainian-Polish relations, those responsible for this provocation must be brought to justice.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine “strongly condemned the deliberate destruction of Ukrainian grain by Polish protesters on the Ukrainian-Polish border”.

The head of the Polish Ministry of Agriculture, Czeslaw Sekierski, on behalf of Polish farmers, asked the Ukrainians for forgiveness for spilled Ukrainian grain at the border.

February 20, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that negotiations are continuing between the Polish government and farmers, as well as trade unions on unblocking the borders.

The President of Poland emphasized: the border blockade is not a decision of the official authorities – this is the position of only farmers.

In addition, Andrzej Duda added that Poland was and remains a partner of Ukraine, stands firmly in support in the war and will continue to help Kyiv in restoring the territorial integrity of the country.

Border blockade with Ukraine

The first blockade of the border with Ukraine began on November 6, 2023.

Then Polish farmers blocked the border with Ukraine, demanding the return of the pass system for Ukrainian carriers.

January 17 in Poland agreed with protesters to unblock the movement of trucks to three checkpoints on the border with Ukraine until March 1.

However, after the European Commission recommended on January 31 to continue the abolition of import duties on agricultural goods from Ukraine for 2024, on February 9, Polish farmers resumed the blockade of the border with Ukraine.

The full-scale war in Ukraine has been going on for the 730th day.
