Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding back Russian assaults in Severodonetsk
Speaker of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Motuzyanyk spoke about the situation in the Luhansk region during a briefing, reports Channel 24.
Now the Armed Forces of Ukraine are taking all measures to prevent the enemy from carrying out his intentions. We are talking about the encirclement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of Severodonetsk and Lisichansk, – said Motuzyanyk.
The speaker of the Ministry of Defense said that the situation in Severodonetsk itself is difficult. Street battles continue there, but due to failures, the enemy has to retreat.
“Street battles are already continuing in the vicinity. Ukrainian servicemen are holding back the assault actions of the enemy, who is also abandoning personnel. departs,” he said.
Motuzyanyk stressed that the task of the Ukrainian defenders is not only to prevent encirclement, but also to prevent the Russians from being successful in all areas. According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will conduct military operations until the liberation of all territories.
He noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine keep the situation in Severodonetsk under control. Thanks to intelligence, the Ukrainian side knows the plans of the enemy.

What is known about the situation in Severodonetsk
- There is one of the most difficult situations in the Luhansk region: the Russian armed forces have already occupied 95% of the territory of the Luhansk region. In recent days, the invaders have focused on capturing Severodonetsk.
- On May 26, the Russians entered the outskirts of Severodonetsk, in particular, the Mir Hotel. The Luhansk OVA reported that the aggressor troops were not advancing, but were sitting in a hotel.
- Despite this, Severodonetsk suffers from constant shelling by the occupiers, which does not stop. As a result, people die almost every day. Now the Ukrainian flag is flying over Severodonetsk.
- In the operational command “Vostok” they are convinced that the actions of the invaders are not effective. Therefore, the invaders will not be able to capture Severodonetsk.
- Specialists of the Institute for the Study of War ISW also do not believe in the significant progress of the Russians in street battles for Severodonetsk. They once again noted that Russia abandoned the complete seizure of Donbass and concentrated on Severodonetsk.
