The situation on the battlefield is dire; allies must increase assistance to Ukraine.
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg before the meeting of the EU Council of Ministers for External Relations.
“I expect that during the meeting we will consider the situation in Ukraine, where intense fighting continues. The situation on the battlefield is dire, and this makes it even more important to continue and increase our support for Ukraine,” he said.
Stoltenberg noted that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin cannot be allowed to win. Ukraine must remain as a sovereign independent state in Europe, and it is in NATO's interests to support it.

He also noted that only Ukraine can decide what are the acceptable conditions for negotiations and agreements with the Russian Federation.
According to the NATO Secretary General, wars are unpredictable by nature, so no one can say how and when the Russian war against Ukraine will end.
“What we can say is that as the likelihood of an unacceptable negotiated outcome increases, we must increase the assistance we provide to Ukraine.” At present, we do not see any desire on the part of President Putin to negotiate an acceptable solution on Ukraine. To achieve this, President Putin must be convinced that he will not win on the battlefield, Stoltenberg added.
Jens Stoltenberg previously said that Ukraine and its allies will do everything to prevent Russian dictator Vladimir Putin from freezing the Russian war against Ukraine.
