The situation around Bakhmut is extremely tense: the Wagnerites are trying to break through the defense, – Syrsky

The situation in the area of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region continues to be extremely tense. Despite the colossal losses of the enemy, the invaders continue to throw more and more assault detachments into the offensive.

The details were told by the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Alexander Syrsky.

He noted that the situation in the Bakhmut region is very tense.

Despite significant losses, the enemy launched the most trained Wagner assault detachments into the offensive, trying to break through the defenses of our troops and cordon off the city. Sirsky emphasized.

At the same time, in the battles for Bakhmut, our soldiers show numerous examples of stamina, courage and heroism. Over the past 24 hours alone, in the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces repelled enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Vasyukovka, Orekhovo-Vasilovka, Berkhovka, Yagodnoye and Bakhmut of the Donetsk region.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar stressed that the occupying forces during offensive operations use the tactics of exhaustion and total destruction. Anna Malyar also said that, despite this, the defenders of Ukraine courageously fight the enemy. They carry out active defensive operations in the conditions of the quantitative superiority of the enemy.

So, over the past day in this direction, the military of Ukraine recorded:

  • 300 attacks from various types of cannon artillery and MLRS,
  • 60 combat touches.

During the clashes, 63 invaders were eliminated, and another 141 invaders were injured to varying degrees. So, on February 28, the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated 149,240 invaders. Over the past day alone, the Russian army has lost 550 soldiers, as well as many equipment.
