How Russia lies about the shelling of the ZNPP/Collage of Channel 24
Russia is cynically shelling Europe's largest nuclear power plant and trying to blame Ukraine for it. In order to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Kremlin propagandists are working according to special manuals designed to impose a lie about the situation at the ZNPP through the media.

Russia blames Ukraine for everything in a mirror image
Ukraine almost from the first day of a full-scale invasion Russia calls on the world community to record that the aggressor country is a state sponsor of terrorism and the genocide of the Ukrainian people. Trying to level the facts of the crimes committed, the Kremlin acts in a mirror way – it blames all of Ukraine.
Yes, propagandists are now floating the narrative that it is our state that is terrorizing its own territories, and not Russia. One of the examples of a terrorist attack, allegedly by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they call just the shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. Propagandists used a similar technology after the murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Olenivka by Russians.
However, there are many facts that it is Russia that is boiling over a nuclear power plant – in particular, video strong>published by residents of Energodar. You can hear how the shells are being launched, and literally a few seconds after that, explosions are heard.
This confirms that the shelling is carried out in close proximity to the place of impact, that is, it is the Russian invaders who are doing it. In addition, it is Russia, and not Ukraine, that civilized countries already recognize as a state sponsor of terrorism.
IAEA and the UN
The Kremlin says that Russia insists on an early IAEA inspection at the ZNPP. The invaders even convened the UN Security Council, where the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi was invited. The propagandists lie that in June Ukraine prevented the admission of international specialists to the station. At the same time, the UN secretariat is also blamed for “sabotage” of inspections.
However, earlier it was Ukraine that appealed to the IAEA and the UN with a call to urgently send a mission to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. After all, official Kyiv understands what kind of catastrophe the attacks of infidels on the object can lead to. At the same time, on June 29, the IAEA announced that they had lost contactwith the systems at the ZNPP, which at that time was controlled by the Russians for more than 4 months.
G7 reaction
By strikes on the Zaporizhzhya NPP, the Russians are not only trying to discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but also “legitimize “occupation of Ukrainian territories. On August 10, the G7 foreign ministers urged Russia to immediately transfer the ZNPP under the control of Ukraine.
Thus, propagandists are now expanding the narrative that such a call by the G7 countries is allegedly “absurd”. Referring to the shelling of the Zaporizhzhya NPP, allegedly by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Kremlin apostates are trying to point out the “irresponsibility” of Kyiv, which means “legitimizing” their presence in the Ukrainian Energodar.
Answer of the Disinformation Counteraction Center
The Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council explained why Russia uses the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant as a “nuclear shield” :
- On March 4, ZNPP and Energodar were seized Russian troops.
- The occupiers have turned the territory of the nuclear power plant into a military facility, where there are about 500 Russian soldiers, heavy equipment, tanks and explosives.
- To increase fear in Europe about the likelihood of a nuclear catastrophe and reduce the desire of Western states to provide military assistance to Ukraine, occupiers defiantly carry out shelling from the territory of the nuclear power plant on peaceful Ukrainian cities.
- Russia refuses to check the state of the Zaporizhzhya NPP by the IAEA. At present, the station is out of control of the IAEA, which has caused concern to the world community.
- US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at the conference of the countries participating in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty noted that the army of infidels uses ZNPP as a “human shield” for shelling Ukrainians.
- Russia is aware that the Armed Forces of Ukraine “cannot and will not shoot back” to prevent an accident at the nuclear power plant.
- Putin personally threatens horrific consequences for countries that support Ukraine .
- The actions of Russian nuclear terrorists at the ZNPP pose an unprecedented threat to the nuclear security of Ukraine, Europe and the whole world, because in addition to nuclear installations, 174 containers of spent nuclear fuel in a storage facility near the ZNPP remain under threat.
- In the event of an accident, radioactive water will enter the Black and Mediterranean Seas.
- Russia's nuclear blackmail requires a response from the IAEA, the international community and the adoption of measures to free the station as soon as possible.
