The past day in Kharkiv and the region was difficult. The Russian invaders shelled many settlements, including hitting the infrastructural facilities of Kharkov.

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov spoke about this on the air of the all-Ukrainian information marathon, channel 24 reports.

According to Terekhov, there are “arrivals” where rescuers work.

The situation is tense. The invaders do not stop bombing Kharkov. The intensity of the fire today (June 20) has intensified since last night, the mayor of Kharkiv said.

At the same time, he added that there is no panic among the locals. Many have become accustomed to constant shelling. Unfortunately, this can play a cruel joke on them. In this context, Terekhov once again urged the townspeople not to forget that active hostilities in the region continue.

Consequences of enemy shelling

According to Channel 24 correspondent Anna Chernenko, one of the enemy missiles hit in a civil enterprise – the composition of finished plastic products. This is only an industrial area, where there are no military installations. Rescuers are working on the spot.

AFU are fighting to get out to the border in Kharkiv region

Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had liberated a significant part of the territory of the Kharkiv region from Russian invaders. Our fighters had little time to reach the state border with Russia in the Kharkov region. She noted that Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region “were victoriously liberated from the enemy.”

At the same time, the Russian military is making every effort to ensure that the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not reach the border with Russia. According to her, there are fights for this. Also, the Deputy Minister of Defense refused to predict whether the Russians would resume their offensive in the Kharkiv region. She stressed that the situation at the front is dynamic and constantly changing.

What preceded this

  • In early May, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region. It was reported that at the end of May, our soldiers managed to liberate more than 20 cities and villages.
  • On June 17, the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired another settlement in the Kharkiv region. Our soldiers drove the Russian invaders out of Dmitrovka.
