The Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police conducted a series of searches in the administrative building of the Uzhgorod City Council.
Law enforcement officers checked the circumstances of local deputies traveling abroad.
— According to the investigation, in order to travel outside Ukraine, city council officials entered false information into official documents about business trips. Thus, to arrange a trip abroad, officials used fictitious invitations from affiliated foreign organizations, the SBU said.
As noted by the department, in order to disguise criminal activity, the defendants did not register such correspondence and unsigned letters for foreign business trips in the City Council’s electronic document management system.

It turned out that, under the guise of business trips, officials actually went abroad on vacation during the war.
To clarify all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice, investigative actions continue within the framework of criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 332 of the Criminal Code (illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine).
The sanction of the article provides for punishment of up to nine years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.
