Having destroyed Mariupol in the Donetsk region, the Russian invaders began to establish their own rules there. In particular, they are seriously considering returning the “historical” name to the city, which was during the Soviet Union.
During the “scoop” this settlement was named after the Russian and Soviet leader Alexei Zhdanov. Mariupol from 1948 to 1989 was called by his last name – that is, Zhdanov. Now the occupiers can not wait to return this name. They even shoot stories about this on their television, channel 24 informs.
Russia is brainwashing people in the occupied Mariupol
It is very ironic that the journalist who conducted the survey did this as part of the People's Thought program. Although it is extremely difficult for an adequate person to understand how one can talk about free and popular thought under the conditions of occupation. It is important that the propagandist interviewed only older people who, obviously, were born when Mariupol was Zhdanov, and they were young and really miss those times.
Actually, the opinion of young people who grew up in the days of Independent Ukraine and knows their hometown as Mariupol was not taken into account at all during the survey. This is one of the key proofs that the main task of this plot was not to illuminate objective reality, but to broadcast a clear “party line”.
Although one respectable gentleman said a wise thing, and no one cut it out of plot. He stated that as the city was called when it was built, that's how it should be called. If you study this issue in detail, then the first name of Mariupol is Domakha. Then the settlement was a fortress of the Zaporozhye Cossacks.
Nothing good can be said about Zhdanov, after whom the invaders want to rename Mariupol again. He was one of the cogs in the Soviet system. In addition, for a certain part of his career he was responsible for agitation and propaganda – that is, he brainwashed people. And he also organized the repression. Actually, during the Great Terror of the 30s of the XX century, almost two hundred people died because of his signatures on certain documents.
At the same time, it should be noted why Mariupol was named that way in the late 90s years. One of the versions tells that such a name literally means “City of Mary”.
