The day before, Polish politician Radoslav Sikorski said that Ukraine could receive nuclear warheads from Western countries, since Russia violated the Budapest Memorandum. The Kremlin threatened Poland for such an idea.
The Russian Foreign Ministry criticized the proposal of the Polish politician and MEP Radosław Sikorski to transfer nuclear weapons to Ukraine. In particular, they said that this idea “endangers” the people of Poland.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova quoted in her telegram Sikorsky's statement that “Russia has violated the Budapest Memorandum and therefore the West has the right to transfer nuclear warheads to Ukraine in order to protect its independence.”
To this she replied that the American-controlled Polish politicians are displaying extremist ideology, spreading hatred and inciting conflicts. But most importantly, they endanger the Polish people, who are being drawn into the nuclear redistribution of the world,” Zakharova stressed.
By the way, according to the Budapest Memorandum, in 1994 Ukraine gave up its nuclear potential and acquired a nuclear-free status in exchange for independence, including Russia.
Russia did not keep the agreement, and therefore, according to Radoslav Sikorsky, the West can help Ukraine defend and defend its independence.
In addition, the politician spoke about the likelihood of a Russian nuclear attack on NATO territory. He stressed that nothing but certain Putin's rhetoric indicates such a possibility – no preparations are observed.
Russia often threatens with a nuclear strike
- On the morning of June 5, a new interview with Putin appeared on Russian propaganda channels, in which he once again threatened with a nuclear strike. In particular, he said that if the West supplies longer-range missiles to Kyiv, then Russia will draw “conclusions”.
- At the same time, from the very beginning of a full-scale war, Russia has been regularly blackmailing Ukraine and Western countries with a nuclear strike.
- The US Senate suggests that Putin may use nuclear weapons because of his own defeat and Ukraine's military successes. US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland assured that in the event of a possible nuclear strike, the States would not leave Ukraine alone.
- The UN has also stated that the threat of a nuclear conflict has again become real. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is convinced that Russia will not dare to take such a step.
