Russian propaganda has already written that there was supposedly a series of F-16 flights over the Odessa region. According to the Russians, the planes have already taken off from Romanian airfields.

Although on July 10, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the first F-16s from Denmark and the Netherlands are now “on the way to Ukraine,” however, on July 16, the Romanian Ministry of Defense denied the Russians’ statement about the alleged presence of aircraft.

What they say in Romania about the first F-16

We are reporting a new attempt at disinformation by propaganda channels associated with Russia regarding a series of flights carried out by F-16 aircraft in Ukrainian airspace in the Odessa region last week. So-called “sources” unknown in a post on a Russian telegram platform claim that F-16 aircraft will take off from Romanian airfields, the Romanian Ministry of Defense said.

They explained that “alleged sources of Russian propaganda convey false information“.

The Romanian Ministry noted that F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force are performing training and air police missions:

  • exclusively in national airspace,
  • strictly observing the rules established by international law.

The Ministry of Defense explained that Russian disinformation may be related to the NATO summit in Washington, at which made important decisions to support Ukraine's defense efforts.

By the way, the Romanian ministry noted that all decisions taken at the Alliance level since the beginning of Russia’s attack on Ukraine are purely defensive and aimed at protecting member states and deterring any aggression against the territory of the allies.< /p>
