Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell supported US House Speaker Mike Johnson's two-phase proposal for temporary government funding that does not include packages for Ukraine and Israel.

The publication adds that if the US Congress approves Johnson’s proposal to continue the current level of funding until the beginning of 2024, then it is unlikely that the US will consider other bills to support Ukraine or Israel.

However, instead of this step, US lawmakers may consider including the packages in the annual US defense budget bill.
