The Red Cross ignored the meeting with the delegation of Ukraine on the demarcation line

by alex

The International Committee of the Red Cross did not come to meet with the Ukrainian delegation at the contact line. They were supposed to obtain from the Russian side access to the colony in Olenovka.

It seemed more difficult for the ICRC to come to the meeting than once again publish “calls to both sides” on its website. This was stated by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets.

Despite our call and readiness to provide such a trip, we did not see the ICRC, – Lubinets emphasized.

He added that the committee is silent, and behind the silence is covering up and concealing from the international community the crimes committed by Russia.

Organization does not fulfill its goals

Lubinets stressed that the war is not safe. However, he added, is this not what the ICRC mission was created for, and people from all over the world donate money not for its activities and the fulfillment of its mandate.

“If the organization does not fulfill its goals and plays along with the aggressor and criminal with its silence – it must be liquidated,” the Ombudsman is convinced.

The head of the delegation of the Verkhovna Rada to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Yegor Chernev, stressed on the air of the telethon that the ICRC is required to fulfill its duties. They justify that they do not have access to the prisoners of war in Olenovka, forgetting to add “from which side there is no access.”

Lubinets met with Moskalkova for the first time

During the exchange of prisoners, Lubinets met for the first time with Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova. The Commissioner explained the need for negotiations in the humanitarian sphere. In particular, they talked about:

  • the need to visit the colony in Olenovka. If necessary, with the participation of a third party.
  • the need for bilateral cooperation in many civil matters;
  • development of ways to visit prisoners of war, inspect their places of detention;
  • providing opportunities to prisoners of war call relatives;
  • thorough searches for missing persons;
  • reunification of families when children and parents are in different territories;
  • recovery of documents for refugees.

We also agreed to send official letters to implement these topics, which provide for the protection of human rights.
