In the territories occupied by Russians, explosions are increasingly heard. The invaders have psychosis, they try to keep the situation under control, but they are not very successful.
At the same time, Ukrainian defenders need long-range weapons and ammunition to carry out precision strikes deep into the occupied territories of Ukraine and force the enemy to leave our lands. Retired Lieutenant General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military expert Igor Romanenko told Channel 24 about this.
What is the importance of the current stage of the war
As it was during the Kherson operation. Then the Armed Forces of Ukraine occupied the first line of defense and began to strike at the command posts of the Russian occupiers, warehouses and supply chains. The invaders were forced to leave the right bank of the Kherson region themselves.
Today is the stage of a strategic defense operation. Heavy fighting is going on from Kharkiv to Zaporizhia region, and the hottest thing is in the Bakhmut region of Donetsk region.
As for other areas, if the Russian occupiers manage to advance there, then only within the framework of tasks of a tactical level.
We need to grind the enemy in this strategic defense operation, stop him, force him to go on the defensive at least in certain areas and, in the presence of a prepared strategic reserve, carry out counter-offensive operations to liberate territories, the military expert noted.
However, this is the second stage for the future. Now our fighters are destroying the enemy along the entire front line and inflicting pinpoint strikes on important Russian targets. In particular, in the area of occupied Mariupol, which the invaders made their logistics hub and brought a large number of personnel and military equipment there.

Interestingly, these explosions are already being carried out at a distance of up to 100 kilometers, that is, more than the standard 84 kilometers of HIMARS. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have Tochka-U, and partners have also handed us JDAM precision-guided cruise bombs.
Explosions in Mariupol: what is known
- In the temporarily occupied Mariupol “cotton” has become more frequent. The first explosions in the city thundered on the evening of February 21. Since then, 14 explosions have been reported around the city captured by the Russians.
- The British Ministry of Defense said the explosions took place in ammunition depots at the airport, two fuel depots and a steel plant, which Russia uses as a military base.
- The head of the press center of the Operational Command “South” Natalya Gumenyuk said that the attacks on Russian positions in Mariupol indicate that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have found a way to beat the invaders in the rear.
- Adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryushchenko, noted that the occupiers could not do anything to protect themselves from the “cotton”. According to him, the Russians move equipment from place to place at night, trying to hide it somewhere.
- In addition, the occupying army started talking about the need to move the warehouses to a safe distance.
