The Prime Minister of the Netherlands insists that the EU concludes an agreement on arms supplies to Ukraine

European Union leaders are committed to supporting Ukraine with significant military funding this week. Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte insists that the EU concludes an arms deal with Ukraine worth €5 billion.

— Considering the problems in the US, where new money is blocked, it is very important that we do not have a double block against Ukraine, — drew Rutte's attention.

In his opinion, the leaders of the European Union need to agree on the issue of monetary support, because it is extremely important for Ukraine to move forward as a state, as well as to have new successes in military operations.

The US Congress has reached an impasse over the allocation of a new aid package to Ukraine. At the same time, the European Union has not yet agreed on an Agreement on the future of the European Peace Fund (EPF). This fund is used to reimburse funds for arms supplies to Ukraine.

EU leaders will meet in Brussels on December 14 and 15 to discuss a proposal to contribute about €5 billion to the EPF instead of the €20 billion over four years proposed at the beginning of the year.

Foreign journalists note that EU ambassadors failed to reach agreement on the issue of military assistance, as well as Ukraine's membership in the EU and sanctions against Russia during negotiations behind closed doors.
