The President's Office commented on Putin's statements about peace negotiations

by alex

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin said that Russia is allegedly looking for a peaceful solution to end the war.

He said this during an online speech at the G20 summit.

“Some leaders said in their speeches that they were shocked by Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine. Yes, of course, military actions are always a tragedy,” Putin said.

He added that “we need to think about how to stop this tragedy,” and Russia allegedly “never refused peace negotiations with Ukraine.”

As Reuters notes, such a statement by Putin was addressed to the international community, however, it is still one of the loudest statements about the war in recent months.

It is also worth noting that Putin used the word “war” to describe the conflict, instead of the usual Russian propaganda term “special military operation.”

“I understand that this war and the loss of life cannot but shock,” he said.

Ukraine's reaction

Advisor to the head of the Presidential Office Mikhail Podolyak responded to the Russian president’s statement. He, in particular, called Putin’s statement “a distortion of reality.”

— Since 2014, Russia has been exclusively engaged in the extermination of the civilian population in Ukraine. He does this deliberately, fully understanding the result of his genocidal actions. And since February 2022, the extermination of the civilian population has acquired a systematic, large-scale, totally destructive nature, involving aerial bombing, rocket and artillery shelling of the entire territory of Ukraine. This is the first thing,” Podolyak began.

Secondly, Mikhail Podolyak points out that “Russia has nothing to think about and nothing to think about how to “stop the tragedy in Ukraine.”

“Murderers who commit a deliberate crime in cold blood do not think within themselves how to stop the crime. The only effective solution, the realization of which is still beyond Putin’s mind, is to immediately withdraw the occupying Russian troops from the sovereign territory of another state. Afterwards, we go to the table to discuss payments, compensation and other legal consequences of the war,” said the adviser to the head of the OPU.

Let us recall that on November 22, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual meeting of G20 leaders. Despite the speech of the Russian President, Chinese leader Xi Jinping and American President Joe Biden did not join the summit.
