Zeman rejected 11 applications to join the Armed Forces
After Milos Zeman signed a decision on consent to the entry into the Armed Forces of 103 Czech citizens, his policy changed somewhat. Today, 11 Czechs were denied participation in the war on the territory of Ukraine.
Based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Defense, President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, did not satisfy the requests of 11 citizens of the Czech Republic regarding consent to their entry into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ovchacek wrote.
Previously, the desire to fight more than 500 Czechs expressed their support for Ukraine. Then Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala agreed with Zeman that people going to war would not be considered criminals. At the same time, politicians expressed the difficulty of coordinating collective requests. The Czech government also considers the consideration of individual applications to be ineffective.
According to the Ministry of Defense, almost four hundred Czechs filed an official request to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Two weeks ago, the Castle reported that Zeman approved the entry of 103 Czechs. According to the Czech media, volunteers have already taken part in hostilities in Ukraine.
