Pope Francis reacted to the death of the Queen of Britain
Pope Francis wrote a telegram of condolences to the future King Charles of Britain about the death of his mother, Elizabeth II.
He noted that he honors the “unconditional service of the Queen for the good of Britain and the Commonwealth.” The Pope also said that he was deeply saddened by Her Majesty's death.
Queen Elizabeth II met with Pope Francis at the Vatican in April 2014. Then the monarch presented the pontiff with a grocery basket filled with local delicacies and a bottle of Balmoral whiskey.
In general, during her long reign, the Queen of Great Britain met with five Popes.
