German police on Wednesday, June 12, confirmed that they had found the body of the deceased 9-year-old Valeria from Ukraine. Now the police are on duty around the clock near the houses where the girl’s mothers and grandmothers live.

Law enforcement officers are considering the possibility that the killer may be seeking contact with the family of the deceased child. They carefully monitor who enters the houses where Valeria's relatives live.

The police will monitor the family until they find the killer

33-year-old mother of the girl and 60-year-old grandmother both live in Debeln. Their houses are located just a few hundred meters from each other. The police began surveillance in front of both apartments on the evening of Tuesday, June 11. She checks and documents everyone who enters and leaves the houses. There is also an ambulance there.

“The family's fear is now mixed with grief. Fear of a killer who has not yet been caught,” writes Bild.

The German prosecutor's office noted that the investigation has so far focused on the family's immediate circle. They believe that the killer may be looking for contact with the mother or grandmother of the deceased Valeria.

The police also added that their constant presence should not be considered as distrust of the closest relatives who are in mourning “This is to protect the family – we are there if there is a need,” Yana Ulbricht noted to the police.

The police are not sure how long the family will be under round-the-clock surveillance. This will probably last until Valeria's killer is caught.

What is known about the case of 9-year-old Valeria

• 9-year-old girl Valeria disappeared on Monday, June 3, on her way to school in the German city of Debeln. The police found that the girl did not get to school and did not even get on the school bus. The school did not report the girl’s disappearance in time, and her mother first looked for her on her own. Later, hundreds of police officers, dozens of volunteers, a helicopter, and search dogs were involved in the search.
• During the search on June 11, police discovered an unidentified body in the forest four kilometers from the girl’s house. And already on June 12, the examination established that this was the missing Valeria. He has already received leave from military service and is collecting the necessary documents to travel abroad. And on Wednesday, June 12, he made a video in which he accused his ex-wife of not spending enough time with the child. He said that Valeria went to school alone and without any means of communication. A man asks for help returning both his daughters to Ukraine.
