The Pentagon created a new team to monitor Ukraine's use of US aid

The US Department of Defense has created a new team in Ukraine to monitor US security assistance to Kiev, as more Republican lawmakers call for greater control over the use of these funds.

CNN reports.

The inspector general of the US agency said that a senior US official began work in Ukraine at the end of August, and additional personnel are expected to arrive by the end of September.

— The personnel, who will be based at the US Embassy in Kyiv, will monitor US aid, which has totaled more than $43.7 billion since the start of the Biden administration, — the report says.

According to Inspector General Megan Reed's press secretary, this will be the first time that inspector general staff will be in Ukraine since Russia's invasion in February 2022.

< p>Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that the US inspection responsible for the line of material and technical assistance showed that there were no claims on the part of the American side regarding the accounting of weapons and military equipment provided to Ukraine for protection against full-scale Russian aggression.
