The US Department of Defense has formal authority to provide military assistance to Ukraine . In particular, another 4.2 billion dollars.

The Pentagon speaker stated this at a briefing. At the same time, Patrick Ryder noted that the Ministry of Defense cannot transfer funds to a warring country without a decision from Congress.

“We do not have the ability to replenish reserves”

We have the authority to spend approximately $4.2 billion of existing funds, but we do not have the ability to replenish reserves,” said Ryder.

The speaker noted that the funds for the allocation of assistance have been spent. We are talking about the Presidential Arms Transfer Program (PDA), which involves sending weapons from warehouses.

Ryder also reported working with Congress on this issue. The US Department of Defense called for the adoption of the additional funding proposed by the White House.
