The painter explained why journalists were not allowed there after the de-occupation of Kherson

Journalists could not immediately get into deoccupied Kherson in November last year, since many administrative buildings in the city were mined, and law enforcement officers needed to carry out all the necessary security measures.

Former Deputy Minister of Defense Anna Malyar spoke about this in an interview with Liga.net.

“On the first day of liberation, we began organizing a briefing. The head of the OVA, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, was supposed to arrive by helicopter. But law enforcement officials received information about mining of administrative buildings. Therefore, everyone was prohibited from entering the city… We ourselves could not get there,” Malyar assured.

She says that when journalists were first allowed to enter Kherson, she, together with the press officers, organized groups of more than 200 journalists, who were transported by several buses.

“Law enforcement officers clearly defined how many buses there could be, what kind of column there could be, because these are security measures, because Russian artillery is finishing there,” Malyar assured.

The former deputy defense minister says that some journalists entered Kherson illegally.

— There is a human factor, there are violations. This means that these violations need to be investigated, how they got there, but they endangered many by doing so,” adds Anna Malyar.

The ex-Posadovitsa also says that sometimes it is difficult for many journalists to get to the front, because for this they need to organize a group together with a press officer, a driver and other persons. But even then, all these people remain in the danger zone.

“Journalists always say: “I’m an adult, this is my choice, I’m ready to take risks, to be in a combat zone, and even to the fact that I could be wounded or killed.” But when they fire at him, other people will die. Because with him you need to send a police officer, a driver and people who will ensure their safety. And all these people (not just the journalist) are actually in danger,” she explains.

Anna Malyar also says that Russia used beacons on foreign journalists to track Western equipment that Ukraine received.
