There will be no ceasefire in Gaza without the release of the hostages. Only short pauses are possible.

The Prime Minister of Israel stated this. Benjamin Netanyahu has once again rejected the idea of a ceasefire in Gaza unless the hostages are released.

“It won't happen without the release of the hostages”

There will be no general ceasefire in Gaza without the release of our hostages,” Netanyahu stressed.

At the same time, he added that small tactical pauses are possible – “an hour here, an hour there.”

“We had them before. I assume that we will check the circumstances in order to allow the import of goods, humanitarian aid, or so that our hostages, individual hostages, can leave,” the official noted.

According to the prime minister, a general ceasefire would hinder Israeli efforts to free the hostages.

The only thing that works against these Hamas criminals is the military pressure we apply,” Netanyahu stressed.

If the militants agree to release the hostages, then, according to the prime minister, the fire will cease.

Biden could not agree with Netanyahu on a humanitarian pause

  • On November 6, the US President had a telephone conversation with the Israeli Prime Minister. However, according to media reports, Biden did not agree with Netanyahu on the need for a humanitarian pause in this war.
  • The White House noted that both leaders discussed the possibility of tactical pauses to allow civilians the opportunity to safely leave areas where fighting continues, ensure the flow of aid to civilians in need, and release potential hostages.
  • Biden and Netanyahu also agreed to talk again “in the coming days.”
  • National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby said the United States will continue to advocate for temporary, local pauses in hostilities.
  • Netanyahu also said Israel would be responsible for security in Gaza for an “indefinite period” after the end of the war.
