The only incentive left: how Russia is desperately trying to attract volunteers to the army

by alex

Russia continues to attract volunteers into the ranks of the Russian army. At the same time, from November 1, Russians will begin to receive electronic summonses. These measures will potentially mobilize a large number of people.

Former SBU employee Ivan Stupak told 24 Channel that this really is a big threat. He noted that it is even difficult to predict what these mobilization measures may lead to.

Difficult situation

At the same time, a difficult situation has developed in Russia with the recruitment of volunteers into the ranks of the army. Every month the number of those who want to fight in Ukraine even for money decreases.

I draw this conclusion judging by the amount of payments that are offered to everyone who enlists in the ranks of the Russian armed forces. Previously, a one-time amount equivalent to 2 thousand dollars was provided, and after that the volunteer still received a monthly salary. Now the lump sum payment has increased to 10–11 thousand dollars. This is a very big leap,” noted a former SBU employee.

If the flow of volunteers was constant and there was a queue of them, then the amount of payments would increase gradually. When such a sharp jump occurs, it means that there are problems with attracting those who want to fight into the Russian army.

< p>“This also means that the incentives have run out and, accordingly, those who joined the army at the call of their hearts, who did it under the influence of Russian propaganda or those who were “brainwashed” by the Russian Orthodox Church. Now the only incentive left to go to war is crazy money,” emphasized Ivan Stupak.

More about mobilization in Russia

  • From November 1, a military registration register and a register of summonses are being introduced in the country. He will keep records of those liable for military service. Information about being included in the register and all changes in it will be received through the portal “State Services”. In addition, they will be sent a paper summons. It will be considered delivered no later than seven days later.
  • The Russians are using rather unconventional measures to ensure more volunteers for the army. Russia has launched propaganda trains that run by rail. The carriages of these trains and electric trains are decorated with appropriate prints glorifying service in the Russian army, their equipment and weapons.
