The only woman in the Russian cosmonaut corps, Anna Kikina, joined the new crew for the flight to the International Space Station. The start is planned for 2022.
– Crews are scheduled for the flight in 2022. Oleg Artemiev, Denis Matveev and Sergey Korsakov will be preparing for the flight in the spring. Sergei Prokopyev, Anna Kikina and Dmitry Petelin should fly in the fall, – a source told RIA Novosti.
According to the head of the Cosmonaut Training Center. Pavel Vlasov Gagarin, Kikina is being trained as a professional cosmonaut.
– Her training is very different from the training of a participant in a space flight. Because Anya will fly as a flight engineer, and I am sure, in subsequent flights and as a commander, – said Vlasov in an interview with Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, which is quoted by the site kp.ru.
Earlier it was reported that the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft will leave for the International Space Station on April 9. The place of Sergei Korsakov in the spacecraft is given to NASA astronaut Mark Van de Huy. As a result, the crew commander Oleg Novitsky, cosmonaut Pyotr Dubrov and astronaut Mark Van de Hai will go to the ISS on the Russian spacecraft.
