Anna Ivanovna herself claims that she was misunderstood. She, on the contrary, is grateful to the Ukrainian fighters who support her. And she went to the military with the flag of the USSR, because I thought they were Russians: I wanted to ask them not to “smash Ukraine”.
The grandmother was evacuated together with her grandfather
Anna Ivanovna lives in the vicinity of Kharkov. The Ukrainian military always brought food to the grandmother, and then helped to evacuate to one of the city's hospitals. Now she is there with her husband.

In the meantime, Russian propagandists have made of Anna Ivanovna an amazing symbol of the struggle. For example, an eerie black monument has already been erected in Mariupol in honor of the “grandmother with the flag of the USSR.” A similar sculpture was placed on May 3 in Russian Belgorod. But a day later, she was taken away, because people began to climb out on her.
According to the adviser to the head of the Office of the President Sergei Leshchenko, such a “creativity” from Russian propagandists testifies – it's just rubbish . They cannot create another symbol, because the Ukrainian population simply does not support the Russian occupiers.
This genre crisis proves once again that Ukrainians are not happy with Russian invaders on our land. And the Russians have to invent myths so that their internal propaganda can at least rely on someone, – Sergey Leshchenko emphasized.
