The head of the Center for Strategic Communications of the Southern Defense Forces, Dmitry Pletenchuk, said that the invaders are tirelessly storming the island of Nestriga, which was recently deoccupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
He said this on the air of the national telethon One News.
— This morning they have already made two assaults on Nestriga, and both were unsuccessful. They retreated with losses without success. This is the last island from the Giant — this is a district of the village Velikanskoye and Kizomys, not far from them. In fact, this is the last island before the mouth of the river, — said Pletenchuk.
According to him, it is important for Ukraine to protect this territory from possible attacks by invaders and noted that previously saboteurs could enter there. They installed mortars to shell populated areas in the Kherson region.

Also, the enemy could attempt to get behind the Ukrainian defenders through Nestriga.
Situation in the Krynok area
Pletenchuk added that the situation in the Krynok region remains difficult. Ukrainian marines operate there autonomously.
— Of course, the logistics there are very complicated. As well as rotation, evacuation, and other issues. However, they continue to hold their positions, despite the fact that the enemy forces are superior in numbers, — he added.
As stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky, the Nestriga district in the Kherson region was liberated on April 28.
