The developers of Ukrainian drones have recently achieved good results, and now they fully meet the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in drones.
ThisChannel 24 was told by the representative of the development team of the Ukrainian Punisher drone Maxim Subbotin. According to him, the project to develop Ukrainian drones began in 2016 by a group of military personnel.
The cheapest reusable Ukrainian attack drone
According to him, in order to fulfill their tasks, the development team needed to invent a way to destroy important targets behind enemy lines beyond the 20-kilometer zone.
This is a radius that is difficult to reach artillery. he clarified.
Subbotin said that this is how the first Ukrainian reusable strike drone appeared. Today, it can carry out a mission within a radius of 45 kilometers and destroy the target from the first or second drop.
“We made perhaps the cheapest reusable attack drone, realizing that the defense budget of Ukraine does not have significant volumes, at least when we started developing it,” the developer said.
In his opinion when the cost of completing a mission is low, drones can be produced in the hundreds and even thousands.
“Currently, 37 crews use the drones of our Punisher design. They perform between 400 and 500 missions per month, depending on weather conditions or other factors “, he noted.

The interlocutor stressed that a sufficient number of drones are currently being produced in order to meet the needs of the Armed Forces, which are formed by unit commanders. Also now there is a centralized determination of the need at the level of the General Staff.
Systematic planned work is being carried out to build the units themselves that will use them, and to saturate the units with means – reconnaissance drones, kamikaze drones and strike drones such as ours. This allows us to adequately respond to all threats of war,” he said.
According to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov, he signed the last application for testing within a month for almost 20 different types of drones. And this has never happened before.
Subbotin noted that the acceptance of any experimental sample for the test operation procedure requires quite a long time.
This is due to a kind of safety protocol. Since before a soldier receives a drone, his experimental model must be carefully checked about the dangers of using it, he specified.
The interlocutor noted that during the war this procedure was simplified, but did not lose its quality – all the necessary security measures maintained.
Drone factory could be targeted by the enemy
According to him, we, Ukrainians, can expand the production of something in Ukraine, but this requires some assistance from the state.
The production of drones requires components, the full cycle of which is still impossible to establish in Ukraine for economic and security reasons. After all, a plant manufacturing something important for the military-industrial complex of Ukraine automatically becomes a target of the enemy,” he noted.
The developer stressed that it is safer to establish direct supplies of components from our Western partners, which will allow us to scale the production of drones within the country .

Drones should deliver surgical strikes
In his opinion, thanks to Ukrainian drones, it is possible to change certain rules in the war.
The massive use of drones can:
- violate the control of the occupying forces ;
- destroy supply depots – with ammunition, fuel and lubricants.
“The use of drones will give us some time to adapt, save our personnel, in particular, during offensive operations. After all, where artillery does not reach, strike drones can work. UAVs are even more accurate than some expensive artillery ammunition,” he said. he. .
However, the developer of the Punisher drone emphasized that the drones do not compete with artillery systems, their purpose is to deliver surgical, pinpoint strikes that need to be planned and applied in some general plan with high quality and in advance.
