< strong _ngcontent-sc128="">The Russian invaders continue to try to establish control over the Black Sea in order to block Ukraine from the south, including ports. But for this they need a powerful air defense.
Russia keeps a group of warships equipped with cruise missiles in the Black Sea. It is from them that missile strikes are carried out on the territory of Ukraine. But as has already been proven, the ships themselves are also a target. And the Ukrainian army already has the necessary successful experience in their elimination – the cruiser “Moskva” rests at the bottom of the Black Sea.
This forces the Russian invaders to pay more attention to the air defense of ships. After all, the cruiser Moskva was responsible for this when the necessary radars and weapons were on board. After its sinking, the vulnerability of the ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet to missile attacks has increased significantly.
As well as the probability of missile attacks on other Russian military facilities in southern Ukraine under Russian occupation is quite high.
That is why Russian troops deployed two additional S-400 anti-aircraft missile battalions in the northwestern part of the occupied Crimea. This is a new Russian anti-aircraft missile system that can hit aerodynamic targets at a distance of up to 380 km. Although the Russians boasted of testing and long-range missiles that are capable of hitting targets at a maximum distance of 400 kilometers and an altitude of up to 185 kilometers.
Thus, this anti-aircraft missile system allows the Russians to carry out air defense in the northwestern Black Sea continue to block Ukrainian ports.
The occupiers are also strengthening their positions on Zmeiny Island, where they also deliver air defense equipment. Even earlier, Ukrainian intelligence recorded how the Russians deployed Pantsir and Tor-M2 air defense systems there. Scouts did not rule out the possibility that missile systems could be deployed there, which would be capable of firing not only at Ukraine.
Deputy and member of the National Security Committee Fyodor Venislavsky confirmed the transfer of air defense forces to Snake Island. According to him, the invaders also placed electronic warfare systems and part of the fleet there.
