Over the past period, the number of cases of unauthorized abandonment of the unit has decreased by one third. However, the problem of the SOCH still remains, as it is more complex.
This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky on the air of the telethon “Yedini Novyny”, commenting on the situation with the SOCH recently.
The problem of the SOCH — is there a tendency to decrease
— The problem of the Special Operations Forces is more complicated. It is necessary to take into account that people are mobilized. This is not a contract army, where there are different approaches and levels of military discipline. A mobilized army is always inferior, unfortunately, to a contract army. Why do many countries even switch to professional armed forces that are completely contractual? They have duties and responsibilities spelled out. Mobilization is a little different, — said Syrsky.

According to him, there is currently a tendency to reduce the number of cases of unauthorized abandonment of the unit.
— In the last period, the number of those who leave their units without permission has literally decreased by one third. About 10 thousand servicemen from the Special Operations Forces have returned to the reserve battalions, and 4.5 thousand are already participating in combat operations. That is, people realized that they had committed an act that had the characteristics of a criminal offense — it was indeed a crime, — he said.
Syrsky answered the question of whether servicemen return to their brigades or choose others.
— As a rule, to other units. Some want to return to their own. But most of them go to other units, — Syrsky noted.
Reasons for Special Operations in Ukraine
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that there are a number of reasons for unauthorized abandonment of the unit.
— The intensity of hostilities, unfortunately, there are losses. Of course, every person wants to stay alive and healthy. This is a normal desire of any person. This is a risk. It should also be taken into account, — he explained.
In his opinion, a person himself should also be interested in being well prepared for combat operations.
— Not only the instructor should be prepared, but also the student should clearly understand what he is being trained for. And he consciously prepared, and did not think about how to avoid this training, — said Syrsky.
The journalist asked the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine whether it is possible to increase the financial motivation of military personnel.
— On the front line, people receive all the bonuses that we currently have. That is, material and financial stimulation — all these measures have been implemented, — he replied.
According to Syrsky, the duration of basic training has been increased. A number of disciplines have been introduced that any soldier must master in order to operate successfully on the battlefield.
— An adaptation period has been introduced and secured by governing documents. It actually lasts from a week to 14 days, depending on the situation where the soldier is. Classes are held with him. He directly adapts to the front and sector where specific combat ideas are being conducted with the enemy that is currently opposing him, — said the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Syrsky noted that the army is constantly working to improve quality and create healthy military teams.
— We are constantly studying this problem. Most of the problems probably lie, judging by our documents and materials, in the relationships in the military collective. Where they are normal, there are traditions, respect from commanders to subordinates, mutual respect between themselves, where sergeants are parents, leaders and mentors, then there are usually no problems, he noted.
