Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Affairs Michael Ryan spoke out about Russia's war against Ukraine. He said that the next three weeks will be decisive in the war in Ukraine.
The Russians have revised their goals in the war
Michael Ryan believes that the main problem for the Russian military, which has made a reassessment of their goals in the war, is whether they can restore combat power. It is not known whether the occupiers will be able to resist the “very experienced” Ukrainian forces in the East.
“The Russians have revised their goals in the war and focused primarily on the East. Their main problem is that they need to restore enough of what we call combat power, the ability to fight effectively in the East, and then counter the very experienced Ukrainian forces that were preparing to them for a long time,” Ryan said.
The former US Deputy Secretary of Defense believes that the outcome of the war in Ukraine will be determined within the next three weeks.
So the next three weeks will be decisive. They will determine the outcome of the war,” he said.
Michael Ryan noted that Ukraine can win the war if it gets the right weapons from the West.
He also believes that Russia will return to its “classic tactics” after Alexander Dvornikov was appointed commander of the Russian group in Ukraine.
“I believe that the general will return to classic Russian tactics. They will launch massive air and artillery strikes on Ukrainian positions, before they throw a lot of tanks and a lot of soldiers at them,” Ryan said.
After all, the former Deputy Secretary of Defense of the United States is convinced that the Russians will suffer even more losses because of this approach.
