Russian dictator Vladimir Putin arrived in North Korea on the evening of June 18. During the talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, many statements were made.

In particular, Putin stated that the DPRK supports Russia in the war against Ukraine. The dictators also signed a strategic partnership agreement.

How the National Security and Defense Council assessed Putin's statements during his visit to the DPRK

According to the head of the Kremlin, the new agreement between the DPRK and Russia will become the basis for relations between the two states “for many years to come.”

In turn, Kim Jong-un stated that he supports Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. He believes that with its actions it “maintains the strategic balance in the world.”

The visit to Pyongyang shows that Putin is looking for any opportunity to continue the war, and once again proves the falsity of his statements about “readiness for peace,” the Center for Countering Disinformation notes.

They also added that the Russian dictator still continues to believe that he remains an influential player in the political arena. However, given the limited circle of partners willing to help him with arms supplies, Putin was forced to bow to the leader of an isolated totalitarian state.

Note that this was the Russian dictator's first visit to the DPRK in 24 years. Communication between Putin and Kim Jong-un began immediately after their meeting.
