December 31, Russia launched massive missile strikes on Ukraine: not without casualties and destruction. This is by far the most difficult Christmas and New Year for Ukrainians since the country's independence.
Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said that thanks to the excellent work of air defense and premature technical measures, serious damage to the Ukrainian energy system was avoided on December 31 .
Energymen work non-stop on New Year's Eve

Prime Minister Denys Shmihal stressed that today the invaders attacked not only energy, but also civilian infrastructure in different regions of our country. Residential buildings, a hotel, a shop, a venue for holidays were damaged. There are dead and wounded.
The Russians want to intimidate, leave us in the dark for the new year, do as much damage as possible to civilian infrastructure. Despite this, our energy system remains stable. All services are working to mitigate the effects of attacks. Air defense forces are heroes and a real shield of our sky. Thanks to them,” the prime minister said.
He stressed that Russia and its terrorist troops will be punished for every missile.
What is known about the rocket attacks on Ukraine on December 31
- December 31, the Russians fired more than 20 cruise missiles at Ukraine, air defense forces shot down 12 of them.
- An elderly man died in Kyiv. Also during the Kyiv in the Pechersk region, a journalist from Japan was wounded. In total, as a result of rocket attacks, 20 wounded were recorded, 14 of whom were hospitalized.
- The invaders also attacked Khmelnitsky. 8 people were injured. A 22-year-old girl is in serious condition.
