This opinion was expressed by Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Vadim Denisenko on Channel 24. Military exercises of Belarus near the Ukrainian border have been going on for more than a month.
On the morning of July 22, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that they had continued their studies in Belarus once again. This time, their completion was allegedly postponed to July 31.
Why Belarus continued its studies
According to Denisenko, this indicates that Putin continues to try to draw Lukashenka into the war in Ukraine. However, the self-proclaimed president of Belarus is not yet ready for this.
He continues to maneuver, “dodge”. Of course, they put a lot of pressure on him. But Lukashenka also understands that the entry of his army into this war can be like death for him, – said the adviser to the Foreign Minister.
He suggested that the Belarusian dictator would continue to try to do everything in his power to < strong>to avoid participation in the war with Ukraine .
“So far, Lukashenka has been able to “dodge”. Although, unfortunately, the likelihood of this (Belarus entering the war – Channel 24) still exists, Denisenko added.
Why Putin needs Lukashenko
The adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs believes that Russia is making big bets on Belarus. According to Denisenko, there are two main reasons why the ways are trying to drag Lukashenka into the war in Ukraine.
- Firstly, this is the opening of a second front. The adviser to the head of the Foreign Ministry stressed that without this path nothing could be done. After all, the Russians are not capable of fighting on more than one relatively small section of the front.
- Secondly, the head of the Kremlin puts pressure on Lukashenka, because he is in a hurry to achieve at least some results by December 30, 2022. This day marks the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Denisenko noted that the Soviet Union dreams of creating a new model. And without Lukashenka, this is impossible for the Belarusians.
The adviser to the Foreign Minister expressed the hope that the Belarusian dictator would delay the land attack on Ukraine to the last. However, rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities from the territory of Belarus may continue.
We need to improve our air and missile defenses. Unfortunately, we have no other options,” Denisenko emphasized.
