The Ministry of Internal Affairs is already working on the legalization of weapons/LOGAN WEAVER
During the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine, the question of the legalization of weapons arose. Therefore, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is already thinking about the mechanism, and also asking people to express their opinion on this matter.
As the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs Vadim Denisenko noted during the telethon, after the war, many people will still have weapons in their hands. Accordingly, it will need to be legalized. And for this, channel 24 reports, it will be necessary to develop a legalization mechanism.
There is already a request for the legalization of weapons
Let's start with the fact that another survey started the day before in Die. He, in fact, concerns the legalization of weapons. In it, anyone over the age of 18 can cast their vote for one of three options:
- for special needs;
- for personal protection;
- I am against.
The results of this survey will allow officials to better understand the mood of Ukrainians on the use of weapons. And after that, it will be possible to refine the bills in such a way as to satisfy everyone.
Worthy of attention! The data of the sociological group “Rating” testify that 58% of the respondents would like to own weapons. Note that in pre-war times there were only 25% of such people.

Vadim Denisenko appealed to the language of numbers. He noted that only in Kyiv they issued 20 thousand guns to protect our state.And this, according to the adviser to the minister, instilled hope in Ukrainians, and also provided a moral advantage. Moreover, they felt that they had the opportunity to defend their home, their country.
And the war itself has already shown that people are ready to legalize weapons. Therefore, the Ministry of Internal Affairs decided to conduct a survey to understand how many people are ready for this and under what conditions they are satisfied with the permits.
It is known that the draft law has already been adopted in the Verkhovna Radaon the legalization of weapons in the first reading. Now the document is being prepared for the second one. For this, a discussion was held in the community. In particular, to understand:
- Is it necessary or not to legalize (most now say that it is necessary);
- How and what to legalize? What should be the restrictions?
Experts are already working on these issues, Denisenko stressed. They study international experience, and also analyze the consequences that may arise after the war.
The minister's adviser noted that after the war, many people will have weapons. No one will bear to surrender them immediately. Therefore, it will be necessary to normalize the issue, which will avoid problems. For example, organizations of armed banditry.
As Denisenko noted, the ministry's task now is to minimize risks.In addition, it should be conveyed to people that weapons are needed to minimize the level of crime, and not to increase it. To do this, everyone must have the appropriate permits, not have mental problems or other restrictions.
Experience shows: if society is ready for this, if there are a large number of trained people with weapons, the number of crimes can drop sharply. Denisenko emphasized.
The journalist immediately remembered the shooting that had taken place the day before in Texas. To which Denisenko replied that there is no identity between the legalization of weapons and the growth of such crimes. As an example, he took the same Russia. There have been at least two shootings there in the last year alone.
Such things do not depend on whether weapons are legalized or not, Denisenko stressed.
Be that as it may, the mechanism itself still needs to be developed. The Ministry of Internal Affairs wants to accurately study the mood of Ukrainians. After that, it will be determined what type of weapon can be legalized. Although here, Denisenko notes, there are no patterns between possible crimes and types of weapons owned by locals.
