How the virus is transmitted between people

According to the Ministry of Health, people can also infect each other with the monkeypox virus. However, this occurs as a result of close contact with infected secretions from the respiratory tract, damaged areas of the skin, and biological fluids.

The highest risk group includes members of the same family and physicians who have contacted infected patients without following all the rules. It is also possible to become infected through the placenta.

The average incubation period is 6 to 16 days. However, it can vary from 5 to 21 days.

What are the symptoms

Up to 5 days:

  • fever;
  • headache ;
  • swollen lymph nodes;
  • back pain;
  • severe weakness.

Over time, a period of rash begins. The Ministry of Health notes that in 95% of cases, marks on the skin first appear on the face. The monkeypox virus is detected using PCR testing.

To protect yourself from the virus, you must refrain from contact with infected people and wash your hands more often.

The WHO stressed that they expect the number of infected to increase. However, it is hoped that immediate action will help stop the spread of the virus.

that there will be more cases of monkeypox, but immediate action will help stop further spread. Work is also underway on recommendations for the protection of medical workers.
