The All-Ukrainian initiative “Wi-Fi in Shelters” was presented in the Ministry of Digital Development. Because of the war, high-quality Internet is needed not only above ground, but also underground.

Mikhail Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Digital Development, and Dmitry Zavgorodniy, Director of the Digital Transformation Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science, spoke about the challenges that the telecom front faced. They held a press conference in the shelter of one of the schools to show how everything works, channel 24 reports.

The goal of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Digital Development is to do everything to start the highest quality and safe educational process from September 1. That is why all shelters of schools, kindergartens, colleges and universities in the country should have high-speed Internet.

Fedorov stressed that in the next month or two, this initiative will cover all 100% of schools that will have bomb shelters ready.

Now we have received 3.5 thousand routers from partners, time we will receive more batches. So, we have all the resources to connect all the schools that are equipped with bomb shelters, Fedorov specified.

Technologically, the initiative is supported by companies from various areas of telecommunications and online stores. All the equipment that has been received to this day has been provided free of charge.

Schools will receive computer equipment

It is important, the MES clarified, to provide schools and teachers, in particular with computer equipment.

Last year, more than 62,000 laptops were purchased and distributed among schools. This year we plan to receive no less number of computers for free. There is already an agreement with Google, Zavgorodniy added.

An application from an educational institution can be left on the website

Specially, the Deputy Prime Minister specified, they are launching a website where it will be possible to leave an application from a particular educational institution. It will also be possible to contact via the Internet through local educational departments. Coordinate work through the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Digital Development.
