Malyar spoke about the hottest areas in the East/Collage of Channel 24
The fiercest fighting continues in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and near Kharkov. At the same time, in the Kherson region, the Ukrainian government does not allow Russia to implement pseudo-referenda.
The battlefield is the south and east of Ukraine
The Ukrainian military hold the line and prevent the invaders from conquering new territories. This was stated by Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar during the telethon, Channel 24 reports.
Our main battlefield right now is the south and east of Ukraine. The Russian army first set a global goal – to immediately swallow the whole of Ukraine, capturing Kyiv, and now they are trying to divide it all, relatively speaking, into zones or into pieces, or parts of the regions. – said Malyar.
She stressed that, first of all, the occupiers are trying to advance in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions – fierce battles continue in these areas, shelling along the entire front line, there is a difficult situation, including a humanitarian one.
In addition, the Russians are trying to capture the Kherson region, the fighting continues in the Kharkov region. In the Kharkiv region, they were somewhat pushed back, – added Malyar.
By the way, the American media, citing a high-ranking representative of the Ministry of Defense, write that Russian troops and officers refuse to carry out orders to attack the Donbass – the army is so demoralized.
Current situation at the front
According to the General Staff, now in almost all directions the enemy is regrouping troops and trying to attack, however, for the most part it has no success.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine also confirmed offensive operations in the East of Ukraine in order to establish full control over the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, as well as holding the land corridor between these territories with the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Most of all, the enemy became more active in the Slobozhansky and Donetsk directions.
According to the map of hostilities, the enemy, with support of aviation and artillery, focused on taking full control of Rubezhnoye and Popasnaya. The Russians also want to attack Seversk, Slavyansk, Lisichansk and Avdeevka. The enemy seeks to break through the defenses of our defenders.
However, the Ukrainian defenders repulsed 8 enemy attacks in the East during May 9th. In particular, it was possible to destroy up to 250 personnel, 13 tanks, 1 armored personnel carrier and 10 infantry fighting vehicles.
