The border guard from Snake Island was finally released from captivity/State Border Service
The phrase about a Russian warship that was sent in a certain direction, said by a Ukrainian border guard from Serpent Island, has already become legendary. However, it turned out that its author is not the one who was previously thought.
Russian troops attacked Zmeiny Island in the Black Sea on the very first day of their invasion – February 24th. For akat, they used both ships and aircraft. So the Ukrainian border guards on this island were under constant enemy fire.
During the radio conversations between the border guards and the Russian warship, the phrase “Russian warship, go f*ck” was heard.
True, after that, the Ukrainian border guards were still captured by the occupier, who outnumbered them.
But at the same time, part of these negotiations was published with the already legendary phrase. As well as information that its author is border guard Roman Gribov. He was subsequently released from captivity.
However, on May 23, the State Border Service was stunned by the information that the author of the phrase was another border guard. And just now he was released from Russian captivity. Representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andriy Demchenko on the air of the telethon “United News” told how it happened, channel 24 reports.
We never revealed his name. Neither we nor the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They did not emphasize this, did not refute the preliminary information. Because for us, first of all, there was the safety of the prisoners of war. By this moment I can say that he has been released from captivity, nothing threatens him. Through certain security moments, we will be able to name him a little later. Such an informational cover operation, which everyone understands, was carried out so that not a single soldier who was in captivity was injured, – Andriy Demchenko said.
According to Andrey Demchenko, this border guard apparently had no idea that his phrase became so popular. After all, he said it shortly before being taken prisoner.
“Of course, one serviceman of the State Border Service of Ukraine did not expect what he would do for Ukraine, to raise morale. He was probably tired of hearing all these threats and calls to surrender. And he responded with the phrase that has become legendary,” Andriy Demchenko said.
The GNSU speaker also told how it happened that this entry was published. After all, only the border guards and the Russian military had access to it.
“The audio file itself was made by other military personnel on the mainland of Ukraine. There was a radio station where all the aggression that was heard from the ship and boat crew of the Russian Federation was recorded that day in sea. After that, this audio file was distributed to the public,” Andrey Demchenko said.
