The Main Intelligence Directorate received secret data from the Federal Air Transport Agency: what do they indicate?

Ukrainian intelligence conducted a cyber operation against the Federal Air Transport Agency. Secret documents obtained indicate that Russian civil aviation is on the verge of collapse.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

It is indicated that as a result of a special operation in cyberspace, it was possible to obtain a large volume of closed official documents from a structural unit of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation – the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviation).

This department is responsible for flight safety and records all emergency cases when using Russian aviation.

— Among the data obtained is a list of daily reports throughout the Russian Federation for more than a year and a half. Their analysis shows that the civil aviation sector of terrorist Russia is on the verge of collapse,” the report says.

Ukrainian intelligence also cited eloquent facts arising from the report:

  • During January 2023, 185 aircraft accidents were recorded. The leader here was the Russian short-haul aircraft “dry superjet” – 34 problem cases.
  • In the first 9 months of 2023, 150 cases of technical malfunctions of aircraft were discovered in Russia. In 2022, during the same period, only 50 cases were recorded. That is, the danger of flights has tripled.
  • The most problematic areas of Russian aviation remain engines and landing gear, as well as other important elements: hydraulic systems, flaps and software.
  • Russia is experiencing serious difficulties in servicing aircraft with long flight hours. Therefore, they are trying to service aircraft in Iran without the appropriate certification.
  • As of March 2022, the Russians had about 820 civilian aircraft. Almost 70% of Iran’s aircraft fleet went through Iran’s “handicraft service”.
  • An acute shortage of spare parts has led to the so-called “aircraft cannibalism”. More than 35% of the planes were donated.
  • During January 2023, 19 different failures were recorded among 220 Airbus aircraft. In particular, 17 cases of smoke were recorded in nine aircraft.
  • Of the 230 Boeing aircraft that the Russian Federation uses, 33 technical failures of certain aircraft systems were recorded.
  • Every seventh Brazilian Embraer could not withstand the conditions of Russian operation, and there are 21 of them in the Russian Federation.

The corresponding reality is a direct consequence of the sanctions, the most painful of which for the Russian Federation were: a ban on the supply of aircraft and spare parts, denial of technical maintenance, detention of Russian ships abroad, and restriction of access to meteorological information for air navigation.

“Now Moscow, exposing its population to mortal danger, is trying by all means to hide the endless pile of problems with civil aviation,” the Main Intelligence Directorate summed up.

Earlier, British intelligence reported that the Russian Federation wants to return the M-55 aircraft to service.
