The latest air defense for Ukraine: when Germany hands over the first IRIS-T, which it does not have in service

International partners continue to provide Ukraine with weapons to defend against Russian aggression. We are also talking about the latest IRIS-T air defense systems. We'll let you know when we get them from Germany.

Immediately make a reservation that Germany itself does not have such systems in the arsenal of its troops. Therefore, our state will have to wait a little longer for IRIS-T as part of the provision of weapons to protect against Russia. German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldhusen spoke about this.

Germany actually does not have these air defenses

According to Feldhusen, the Armed Forces themselves do not have these air defense systems.

I don't know if I will answer correctly, but we are inside NATO, and air defense seems to be around us. When I was in Poland, I saw all these Patriot anti-aircraft missiles and others, I never saw them in Germany,” she added.

Fortunately, you won’t have to wait long for an air defense system. According to the German Ambassador to Ukraine, the first one will arrive in our state in October, and the second one – before the end of the year. Our troops will receive two more IRIS-Ts next year.

Feldhusen noted that corresponding air defense systems are being produced. She expressed the hope that the company involved in their creation will have time to meet the deadlines.

“It does not depend on political will, the decision is clearly made there. These are the latest systems, but the supply chain for production is complicated,” she stressed Feldhusen.

Scholz each time finds new reasons not to give weapons

Her statement is somewhat different from what German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said the day before. He found a reason to once again postpone the issue concerning the transfer of armored vehicles to our state. This includes Leopard tanks

According to the Chancellor, there is “a very dangerous war” on the territory of our state. Therefore, in his opinion, the supply of tanks can only provoke an expansion of its scale. They say that their transfer could cause a conflict between NATO and Russia.

That is why Germany did emphasis on air defense systems. In this case, our state receives exclusively defensive weapons. Therefore, it cannot threaten Russia, but only defend its territories.
